It’s all about parenting: new year, new start

New year, new blog: I’ve decided to mark the new year by revamping my blog. I’ll still be talking about publishing and writing, but that will appear on the Red Hill Publishing website. If you stop by my website, you’ll find me blogging about parenting, children, soul and spirit. It all connects with my new book, Parenting with Soul, which will be released by HarperCollins Australia in April.

Here’s a little preview of what it’s all about.

Parenting with Soul is about (re)discovering your own inner life as a parent. It’s about finding your purpose and direction again when you lose it at the bottom of the laundry basket. It’s about finding ways of living with soul – depth, richness and authenticity – in the midst of this messy, noisy, crazy life that is our birthright as parents.

Parenting with Soul won’t tell you what to believe, but it will show you how to make spirituality part of your family’s life. It’s about seeing the sacred in our homes and turning the things we do each day into opportunities to practice mindfulness, gratitude, love, generosity, and other spiritual qualities.

In Parenting with Soul, I talk about things like:

  • Slowing down, living in the present and savouring the special moments.
  • Connecting with the divine and discovering happiness in the small things.
  • Developing family rituals and a sense of the sacred in your home.
  • Making space for core virtues in your family life: gratitude, generosity and all those good things.
  • Giving your children the gift of your attention.

I’m really looking forward to debating, exchanging experiences and ideas, and exploring with you. I’ll also be revving up the Parenting with Soul Facebook page, so swing by and check it out too.
